Out there, the identity of the hacker who broke into Microsoft isn’t just a teenager. Guy named Kristoffer Von Hassel managed to hack into Microsoft’s 2014 XBox console system.

To collect Computer world, Hassel was 5 years old when he managed to log into his father’s XBox account at his home in San Diego, USA. Hassel didn’t steal his father’s passwords.

At first, Kristoffer Von Hasssel’s parents realized that their son had logged into his father’s Xbox Live account and was playing a game that wasn’t for kids. At the time, he didn’t steal his father’s password.

Instead, it discovered a very simple vulnerability that Microsoft claims it has fixed.

How? Kristoffer typed the wrong password. Then it goes to the password verification screen. There, he simply taps the space bar a couple of times, then he presses “enter” to gain access to his father’s account.

This type of password gives him access not only to games, but to everything on Xbox, including YouTube accounts with no age limit.

“Wow, that’s great,” admits Kristoffer’s parent Davies, a security engineer at ServiceNow, San Diego, USA, an enterprise IT cloud services company.

Despite the accusation that Kristoffer must have received help, Davies insisted that his son log into his Xbox account.

Don’t be silent, quoted by AppknoxDavies reported the bug to Microsoft, who fixed it immediately.

Kristoffer’s name is now listed among Microsoft security researchers who have revealed vulnerabilities in their products.

“We always listen to our customers and thank them for bringing issues to our attention,” Microsoft said in the report.

Davies said Kristoffer also received a US $ 50 (about Rp. 744,000) gift, one year of Xbox Live membership, and four games.

The bounty is actually much smaller than some of the other bug hunters received. Microsoft has launched several programs that reward up to $ 100,000 for “completely new exploit techniques”.

“We always listen to our customers and thank you for bringing this issue to our attention,” Microsoft said.
