Stormy Christmas Eve with gusts of almost 100 km / h

(sda) In the mountains it was noticeably windier than in the lowlands: For example, wind peaks of up to 138 km / h were measured on the Säntis in eastern Switzerland at just over 2500 meters above sea level, as MeteoNews announced on Friday. On the Pilatus in Central Switzerland at a good 2100 meters above sea level, the strongest gusts reached 119 km / h and on the Chasseral in the Jura at almost 1600 meters 105 km / h.

In locations below a thousand meters, the Bantiger BE was the front runner with 99 km / h, ahead of the Üetliberg ZH with 90 km / h and the Mühleberg-Stockeren station in the canton of Bern with 88 km / h.

The announced snowfall in the lowlands did not materialize for the time being. “A Christmas day with lots of clouds awaits us,” wrote SRF Meteo on Twitter. The snow showers are mainly on the northern slopes of the Alps. For tobogganing in the plains, you need patience in most places.
