Rain without end: This is how the new week can be summed up. Some regions in southern Germany are particularly affected by the floodwaters. There is also a storm.

According to the German Weather Service (DWD), it will continue to be wet in the south of Germany: The meteorologists expect that the Bavarian Alpine foothills in particular will be hit hard by the continuous rain that will last until Wednesday – but the Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg will also be affected, according to the current reports Forecasts for a lot of rain.

On top of that, the DWD is also warning about wind and storms on Tuesday. In Bavaria, gusts with speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour can be expected in northern Franconia, and in the higher elevations of the low mountain ranges these can even reach up to 100 kilometers per hour. Hurricane-like gusts of up to 120 km/h are expected on the Alpine peaks.

It will also be stormy in Baden-Württemberg on Tuesday and at night. In the lowlands, wind gusts of up to 65 kilometers per hour are possible; in the mountains, these can reach speeds of 90 km/h. The Black Forest is particularly affected, with hurricane-like gusts of up to 115 kilometers per hour. It will continue to be windy on Wednesday, and a few thunderstorms will develop throughout the day.

Heavy rain will continue until Wednesday

The heavy, continuous rain in Bavaria has rained around 50 to 70 liters per square meter along the Alps and the foothills of the Alps since Sunday afternoon, with up to 80 liters measured in places. By Wednesday afternoon, another 20 to 30 liters, and in the Allgäu even 40 to 40 liters per square meter, should come down.

A similar picture emerges in Baden-Württemberg. By Wednesday night, between 70 and 120 liters per square meter came down in the particularly affected southern Black Forest, and a further 25 to 40 liters are expected. The continuous rain has been going on there for 60 hours. In the northern Black Forest, however, the DWD estimates the probability of renewed continuous rain with amounts of around 30 liters per square meter to be low.

Heavy, continuous rain is expected in the Allgäu until Wednesday afternoon. Here there are a total of 80 to 100 liters per square meter; in storage areas, up to 120 liters are possible within 72 hours.

This is what the weather in the south will be like in the next few days

In general, Wednesday will continue to bring changeable weather. In Baden-Württemberg there will be repeated showers and possible thunderstorms at temperatures between 6 degrees in the southern Black Forest and 14 degrees in the southern Upper Rhine Graben. In Bavaria there is similar weather with very cloudy skies, rain and showers, as well as isolated thunderstorms at 8 to 12 degrees. Gusts of wind are possible again in the south.

On Thursday the weather initially appears friendlier before rain sets in from the west during the day. In Baden-Württemberg, temperatures rise from 7 degrees on the Ostalb to 12 degrees in Breisgau. In Bavaria the temperature ranges from 6 to 10 degrees. Strong to stormy gusts are possible again in the mountainous areas of both federal states, and even severe squalls are possible on the Feldberg.
