Stories of South Jakarta Employees Trapped in Bad Traffic from Ragunan to Mampang

Jakarta

Severe traffic jams occurred from the direction of Ragunan to Mampang, South Jakarta this morning. A private employee, Angga, admitted that he was stuck in a bad traffic jam when taking the TransJakarta from Ragunan to Mampang.

Angga said he took the TransJakarta at 08.30 WIB from the Ragunan bus stop and arrived at the Mampang bus stop at 09.30 WIB this morning. Angga said that usually, the travel time is only about 20 minutes to 30 minutes, but this morning there were a number of traffic jams so it took one hour to travel.

“I was taking the busway around half past 9 from Ragunan, it usually takes 20 minutes at the most and half an hour to reach Mampang. Only when the Agriculture stop got stuck, because the Vocational High School Bus Stop was under repair, people couldn’t go up and down but so there was heavy equipment to make traffic jams,” said Angga, when contacted, Monday (30/1/2023).

He said the traffic jam started from the Agriculture Bus Stop. Then at the Jatipadang bus stop there will be repairs, while on the main road there will be excavation work thus narrowing the vehicle’s path. At that time the vehicles on the highway entered the TransJakarta bus lane.

“Then there is another one at the Jatipadang bus stop where there are repairs, across from it there is a cable excavation, so it gets stuck. In the end, the cars starting from the Agriculture bus stop to Pejaten all enter the busway route,” he said.

Angga said that when he was passing by at that time, there were no officers from TransJakarta or the police to block motorists from entering the TransJakarta route. Then the road looked smooth again after the Pejaten and Warung Jati bus stops. However, from the direction of Warung Jati towards Immigration, Angga said there was a density of vehicle volume so that the vehicles returned to the TransJakarta route.

“So, from Warung Jati to Immigration, there is no one to take care of it, they also enter (motorcycles and cars) right after Immigration, the Duren Tiga stop is the busiest, all enter the busway route, so all the motorbikes go there,” he said.

Then, just before entering the Mampang bus stop, there were officers on guard, but they were overwhelmed because of the dense traffic flow at the location and vehicles attached to the TransJakarta to enter the busway lane.

“Then when I wanted to enter the Mampang route there was an officer, but he was too overwhelmed. When the bus came in, he would stick behind it, so the car followed, it was the same, the motorbikes also followed, everyone went there,” he said.

Angga said he did not know the cause of the traffic jam. However, he admitted that the distance had taken longer than before, around 20-30 minutes to 60 minutes during the traffic jam.

“A total of an hour for me when I got off at Mampang, usually only 20 minutes to half an hour, so an hour of traffic jams. From half past nine to half past ten,” he said.

“There are traffic jams everywhere,” he said.
