The Secretary General of NATO is a guest on this week’s episode of the podcast “Aftenpodden USA”.
—
There, Jens Stoltenberg talks about the family’s close ties to the United States – which he actively uses in meetings with American politicians.
– I use them for all it’s worth, he says.
The NATO chief is also being asked about dealing with the turbulent years with Donald Trump.
He got along far better with Trump than most Western leaders. On the podcast, he talks about how he used simple graphs and sums of money to convince Trump of NATO’s value.
– Of course it was deliberate. It was a targeted message that in the area Trump was most concerned about, where delivered NATO member states, says Stoltenberg.
The NATO chief denies that he went too far in his embraces of the president.
– I know exactly what I said. I said things I can vouch for to this day, says the NATO chief.
