Stephen Dupree is back at Retro Studios (Metroid Prime 4) – News

The Retro Studios team is growing! After the arrival of Kyle Hefley, the lead character designer of the Halo series, Retro Games continues to recruit. And this time, it’s Stephen Dupree, veteran of Retro Studios, to make his comeback!

After devoting himself to the development of the platform game New Super Lucky’s Tale for almost two years at Playful Corp., Stephen Dupree decides to return to his first love. Indeed, theth designer Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Wii U and Nintendo Switch or Mario Kart 7 on Nintendo 3DS, has just joined the team of Retro Studios according to VGC.

Even if we don’t know which game will work on Stephen Dupree, it could be that he joins the development of Metroid Prime 4 as a designer, since for the moment, Retro Studios has not announced any other projects.

As a reminder, in early 2019, after recruiting producer Kensuke Tanabe, the studio behind Metroid Prime 4 had decided to “restart game development from the start”. And it seems that this development is still topical since Retro Studios continues to search for many artists like a host and a main designer on the page “Jobs” from the Nintendo site. Finally, VGC specifies that five of the eleven designers from Metroid Prime 3 are potentially working on the next Metroid Prime 4, the release of which is still expected on Nintendo Switch.
