The stepfather, accused of causing moderate bodily harm to the 5-year-old child in Plovdiv, filmed himself hitting the child in the face and making fun of him. This became clear in the courtroom during the review of the remand order for Petar and the boy’s mother – Stella, “Maritsa” reports.
According to the prosecutor in the case, videos were found on the stepfather’s phone showing the child and him naked. The man beats him violently, announcing on the video what date it is and what is about to happen.
In one of the clips, the child is knocked down from a chair in front of the computer. The 5-year-old boy falls, then is kicked. Despite everything, the kid stands up like a soldier.

The prosecutor in the case indicated that she was uncomfortable as a wife and mother describing every single action of her stepfather.
“What has been done is a limitless violation of all values, morals and principles. Physical and verbal violence was used, incessant humiliation was filmed,” the accuser pointed out in the courtroom.
It also became clear in the courtroom that the stepfather was twice convicted of possession of narcotic substances. He was characterized by inappropriate behavior and aggression.
“There is evidence that drug use led to his conditions. His last conviction was from 2023 – for possession of drugs and obstructing the police from doing their job,” said the representative of the public prosecution.
On January 11, the stepfather Petar was found in front of the entrance of his apartment throwing out garbage. The police found the child’s belongings in the sack, including a bathrobe.
Both the mother and the stepfather claim that the child was not beaten, but burned himself while bathing in the bathroom. However, no medical attention was sought following the injury.
In the end, the district court in Plovdiv took the most severe remand measure “Detention in custody” in relation to P. Chernev, accused of brutal violence against a 5-year-old child in Plovdiv. The qualification is “minor bodily harm”, and according to the prosecution, the act was carried out with particular cruelty in the context of domestic violence.
Regarding the child’s mother S.A., the court accepted that there was not enough evidence to conclude that there was a reasonable assumption that she had committed the alleged crime for which she was charged. In its reasoning, the court accepted that there was evidence of her other actions aimed at the minor child, which could be assessed as causing minor injuries or not providing sufficient care to the child. Given this, as well as the reasons of the court, that there are no dangers of concealment and commission of a crime provided for in the law, in relation to S.A. “signature” remand was taken.
The ruling is not final and is subject to appeal before the District Court – Plovdiv on January 10.
