The municipality of Katwijk has reported the theft of a work of art along the provincial road. These are three meter high steel horses, which probably disappeared in the night from Thursday to Friday.
The artwork bears the name ‘Windows in the landscape’ and has stood along the N206 near the village of Valkenburg for years. “It is regrettable that this work of art, which is known to everyone, has been unlawfully removed”, says councilor Jacco Knape.
The three steel horses form the “artistic final part of the bond with Valkenburg and its horse market”, writes Broadcaster West. The largest horse is 3.5 meters high and 3.5 meters long. The two other horses are 3.2 by 3.2 meters and 2.2 by 2.2 meters.
How the thief or thieves managed to move the enormous work of art is not yet clear. “I hope that the police can still find the work and that it can soon be returned where it belongs,” said Knape.
