The State expects to pay around 13,000 euros for each patient infected with Covid-19 sent to private hospitals by the National Health Service (SNS), reports the newspaper “Public”, in this Sunday’s edition.
The Minister of Health, Marta Temido, guaranteed yesterday that the State will only guarantee the costs of treating patients infected with the new coronavirus in private hospitals in cases referred by the NHS.
“We have always said that the gateway is desirably SNS 24 and, therefore, it would not make sense for us to now use a different understanding from the one we have always used,” said the minister at the daily update press conference on the pandemic, after a SIC report transmitted on Friday night, the administrator of Lusíadas stated that the hospital will charge the State the cost of hospitalization, tests and exams of all users who are diagnosed with Covid-19, even if they are not referred by the SNS.
The morning man explains that the agreement published by the Central Administration of the Health System is valid for three months, with the possibility of monthly renewal, establishing that the amount to be paid is dependent on the care provided. A patient who is hospitalized but does not need ventilation or has been given up to four days will have a cost of 1,962 euros. If a patient has more than four days of ventilation, the value rises to 12,861 euros.
