Although this means a quality of as better and less hassle coming from outside, there is a bad effect. Often, the earphones end up getting dirty with earwax, which is very unpleasant.

To try to solve this problem, the startup Cardlax created the prototype of a mini washing machine made especially for washing the headphones, the EarBuds Washer. The operation of the EarBuds Washer is very similar to that of a washing machine, inside it, there is a small rotating brush, which has the function of removing the heavier dirt and the areas that are more difficult to reach with a cotton swab, for example. For example, this process is called “pre-washing” in the product demonstration video.

After this phase, the user must place the headphones in a kind of rotating cleaning drum made of foam. Meanwhile, 70% alcohol is added, while the machine’s core rotates, the headphones rub the alcohol against the walls of the drum, which removes the finer particles and completes the cleaning.

According to the creators, even if the hygiene process of the headphones requires the use of alcohol, the process is smooth and does not cause any damage to the devices. In addition, the mini machine also makes it possible to properly clean different brands of headphones, such as Samsung, Bose, Apple e Xiaomi.

Mini washers are sold on Kickstarter for 33 dollars, or about 187 reais in direct conversion, and deliveries are expected to start in early June.
