A backpack, a notebook, even a pencil, can make a difference. Because in a short time the Uruguayan children begin lessons and the excitement of brand new backpack or pencil case is not something that everyone can experience. There are many children who live in vulnerable contexts and do not have the basics to go to school. school. In this note, two campaigns that currently collect supplies thinking of helping the little ones.

The Tribe Foundation was born at the end of 2020, after a group of friends joined after collaborating with different causes, each one on their part. The objective of this group is to work on a sustained basis in projects with vulnerable areas in Uruguay with a focus on helping children and youth. And they started in the neighborhood New Verdisol, where last Christmas and also for Three Kings Day, they achieved their goal of getting a gift for each child with the help of the people.

Also for the children of this area, now they launched a campaign to get School Supplies.

This time, there are two options to be a godmother or godfather. One of them is to donate a packet of school supplies that contains: a pencil case, two pencils, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, four 92-sheet notebooks, a color box, a shell, a scissors. The other way to collaborate is with a backpack: a school-size backpack, a tupperware and a mask.
To receive complete information and join the call, interested parties can send a private message to the foundation through their Instagram account or by entering the link that appears in their biography on the same social network. There you will find the form to complete and apply as a godmother or godfather.

After completing the form and confirming the donation, there is time to deliver it in Montevideo until February 19, or if it is sent from another department, it must be done before February 17 so that it arrives on time.

Ximena Del, one of the founders of the foundation, told El País that there are 502 children in Nuevo Verdisol, according to data from the national census carried out in 2011, but that, in reality, there are currently around 700. Of them, there are about 220 Primary school children who return to school in the coming weeks and belong to families that need help with their supplies: the foundation said that a high number of these families have mothers who are heads of households who recently lost their income due to the pandemic or that they were already in a situation of unregulated work.

Children often come to class with nothing and it is the teachers who seek help and solutions in each case, “but this year we and you are part of the neighborhood and we have the possibility to make a difference. Because learning without a notebook or a pencil is not possible. Because going without a mask is unsafe. Because having cold feet is unworthy ”, they maintained from the foundation when making the call for godmothers and godfathers for this school year.

To communicate with the Foundation in Tribu, they are in Instagram , also in Facebook and your email is [email protected]

Another way to collaborate in this beginning of classes is through the NGO Solidarity Hug.

In this case, you can donate new or in good condition individual supplies, or a complete backpack, consisting of a pencil case, two pencils, a pencil sharpener, rubber, scissors, a shell, 12 colored pencils, 12 colored markers, two 96-sheet notebooks , two notebooks, a geometry game, two packages of icing paper and 25 chickpea leaves. The NGO offers the contacts of volunteers who are in Montevideo, San José, Canelones.

The supplies are intended for almost 150 children who attend the soup kitchens of Brazo Solidario. They receive donations until February 28.

They are in Instagram Y Facebook, and your email [email protected]
