Start of 2021 (Part 2): Time is running out

It was ignored or not considered that not only the corona-related mortality rate, but also long-term consequences and the suicide (attempt) rate, which is excessive in many places, especially among young (and healthy) people (including, by the way, older people) should be taken into account.

Physically alive, mentally damaged, emotionally buried, quite a few drift into an uncertain future.

It also seems to be overlooked by some political decision-makers that post-Covid-Syndrome wholly or partially incapacitated and incapacitated for work are certainly not “cured” just because their PCR test was negative.

All these problems affect not only our western world, but also with particular impact the third and fourth, where there are few savings and even less insurance coverage, and where unemployment, poverty and hunger are generated exponentially.

Countless people in these regions – and markets – are set back by decades.

And in contrast to the often confused directives from above, the impression arises that in conversations with normal people, i.e. with level-headed doctors and responsible business people as well as other third parties who are down to earth, common sense prevails.

This group is becoming more and more marginalized, and their voice is increasingly drowning.

The formula would be simple: Protect the risk groups and let the others – carefully and with enforced conditions – maintain their own existence and that of their families, their businesses and the economy.

Enables a responsible (also for future generations) and down-to-earth economic life instead of running the money press at high speed, self-financing instead of absurd mortgage on the future and minimizing unnecessary collateral damage.

How did New Zealand and Taiwan get the good results? Appropriate measures were implemented immediately and consistently – in order not to have to force them against resistance later, if they were often ineffective. “Defend against the beginnings” is a tried and tested maxim.

As with other black swan events before, only the specific details, but not the basis for the decision itself, were new. The latter would have enabled expedient action.

Instead, basic epidemiological and economic knowledge was put up for discussion, and watered-down compromises were presented instead of setting clear, appropriate and therefore proportionate and expedient requirements and ensuring their fulfillment consistently, resolutely, robustly and sustainably.

We are looking for leaders who succeed and perform with their work, their commitment and, above all, with the results of their commitment in exceptional situations such as the present.

Such an award has not yet been awarded and time is running out irresponsibly.
