Start flu vaccination for the entire population

Monterrey.- The flu vaccination campaign is now open to the entire population, following the launch of the first phase which began in October and was initially aimed at the weakest groups.

This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Health of Nuevo León, Alma Rosa Marroquín Escamilla, during the press conference of El Nuevo León Informa, in which he explained that the application of organic for men and women of all ages.

“We open vaccination to people of any age, whether they are men or women who already have the flu vaccine available in all of our health centres. It is important to be protected because, even when we are not a person at high risk of complications, we can transmit the disease,” said Marroquín Escamilla.

He explained that one million 81 thousand 543 doses have been applied so far. He also said that 93.5 percent of influenza cases in the state are found to be variant A H3N2, and 5.4 percent are type A H1N1. Of the so-called category B, 1.1 percent of cases were documented.

Another of the results presented by the official is that in previous years the peaks of cases occurred in mid-December and that, on the contrary, this year it was from October.

“I want to reiterate that flu is not a normal flu, it can also get complicated and so we need to be very aware of the prevention strategies we have,” said the official, who also explained that there is a story of two complications from the flu in pregnant women, one of whom sadly died.

He called on the entire population to take extreme measures by vaccinating, using a face mask, covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, washing hands often, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, as well as avoiding exposure to sudden changes in temperature.
