StarDance Elimination: Ivana Chýlková and Jan Tománek Leave Competition After Quickstep Dance

The couple of Ivana Chýlková and Jan Tománek did not survive the second StarDance elimination round, which this time was exceptionally held on Sunday due to the presentation of state awards. The quickstep dance became fatal for them, for which the jury gave them fifteen points. Not even the audience could turn the situation around, so the couple had to leave the competition. Even though the actress regrets that she won’t be able to dance the paso doble in the next round, she takes the elimination in a sporting manner.

Can you tell the readers how your training in StarDance went?
Ivana: After our first meeting, when Honzík felt that we would dance right away… (laughs)

Jan: … I just wanted to try a few quick moves.

Ivana: For him fleeting, for me completely new… I simply said: “Honey girl, No. We will do it differently. We’ll do yoga first to give the body the information to move, and then we’ll dance…” From then on, whenever we could, we started each class with at least twenty minutes of yoga led by me, then we switched roles and two the master guided me here for hours.

Jan: It was such a specialty of ours and I’m very happy for it, because yoga warms you up and balances you out nicely.

Ivana: Tell me, Honzíčka, what did I help you with?

Jan: Ivanka fundamentally helped me with my back problem. For eighteen years now, I’ve had a panda bear on my back, with whom we talk variously, sometimes more, sometimes less, and when I put weight on it, it hurt a little, but now it doesn’t hurt anymore because I exercise regularly.

Ivana: His physical therapist told him to lean over, which I thought was stupid. When your hips hurt, the most natural thing to do is relax. I immediately told him that the physiotherapist had to be replaced immediately, that he was after him and wanted to cut him off. (laughter)

Both agree: We can definitely recommend this competition to everyone. Let them go dancing instead of a physiotherapist.

You graduated from DAMU, I don’t know how to dance… Did you have dance experience before Stardance?
Ivana: At DAMU in the eighties, there was only such a rhythm. Before StarDance, I was completely unfazed by ballroom dancing. It was my very first experience.

Jan: Ivanka is very good at managing diseases. Do you know what it is?

I don’t know…
Jan: Chorovod is a movement used by Russian dancers. We were looking for various connections between movements that Ivanka had glimpsed somewhere in her life, and variations that have a certain technique and name, and I tried to teach Ivanka during training.

Ivana: He kept calling me some names and I didn’t understand them at all. For example, he said: “There is an open turn.” And I thought: “Damn, what an open turn?” (laughs)

Josef Maršálek: I have no greater ambition in the StarDance competition than to survive it in good health

Which of you was more dominant in training? Ivan, did you let Honzo have a free hand, and did you do what he told you?
Ivana: I tried to do it that way… Honzík, you thought badly, do you want to refute it?

Jan: No, I mean, that’s how it went in the beginning, but then it got a little more complicated… and I already had an assistant. (laughter)

Ivana: I told him that he was not holding the frame properly.

Jan: Yes, I was in position, I was holding the frame wrong, and Ivanka told me that I was holding the frame wrong. You can understand that I was slightly surprised by this…

Ivana: (laughs) Me too, because you held him stupidly.

How many times have you pointed this out to him?
Ivana: It happened once or twice…

What did those around you say about your performance in the competition?
Ivana: The neighborhood more or less pushed me into the competition, so I hope they are satisfied.

Didn’t your partner Jan Kraus tend to rehearse dances with you at home?
Ivana: He couldn’t! He would ruin my body position. It’s around my waist, it didn’t exist. We diligently trained the frame with Honzíček, he also struggled a bit… What would I do then? (laughter)

Jan: I have one beautiful memory on this topic. When I first got a call from TV asking if I wanted to dance in StarDance, I thought it was a hidden camera. It wasn’t until they called the second time that I realized they were serious. I came home and looked for someone pragmatic, which is my wife Kamilka, and expected her to say: “Then we will all calm down.” I told her that they wanted me to dance in StarDance, she thought about it and said the terrible line: “Hey , it wouldn’t be bad if there was someone old!” (laughs)

Ivana: (laughter) You’ve learned what you’re home for.

John: Yes. Why drag dad around the buildings of Czech Television and let him suffer on the live broadcasts of StarDance.

You tried out the role of both a judge and a contestant. Which one is closer to you?
Jan: Both have something in them, but I’m a dancer at heart, I still like to dance to this day. I started dancing because he was with girls and I enjoyed moving. That’s what I’m left with. I didn’t stop being a dancer and I’m very happy that I got the opportunity again.

My dance expression is not completely cultivated, says Eva Adamczyková about StarDance

On the twenty-seventh of September, you had logs, Ivan. Did you celebrate on the dance floor?
Ivana: I didn’t celebrate at all. The last time I celebrated my birthday was in my twenties. I couldn’t wait for those.

Jan: Isn’t that a shame?

Ivana: And why would that be a shame?

Jan: You invite friends, you remember…

Ivana: Please, what would I remember? I look ahead. I don’t even celebrate my birthday with my family, I skip it. When acquaintances write, I write back: Thank you very much. That ends it.

Jan: I hope you are giving at least a smiley face! (laughs) I know I like birthdays very much.

Ivana: I don’t, because we meet all the time. With family and friends. I don’t see why it has to necessarily be during a birthday.

Jan: When I am sixty, I would like it if you would be so kind as to take the time to come. I’ll arrange the fireworks.

Ivana: Okay. (laughter)
