Starbucks Shuts Down North American Offices Against Virus Spread | NOW

Starbucks is shutting down nearly all locations in the United States and Canada as a result of the corona crisis. The coffee chain offers a drive-in option whenever possible.

“Let’s be realistic, lattes aren’t essential,” said Starbucks executive Rossann Williams. The chain makes an exception for establishments in and around hospitals and other care facilities.

With the measure, Starbucks wants to stimulate the waiver directive. The chances of transmitting the coronavirus are reduced if people keep at least 1.5 meters from each other.

Starbucks is the world’s largest coffee chain and operates virtually all branches in North America. Some sites are managed by partner companies. These parties may make their own decision about a closure. Starbucks will continue to pay the partners for at least thirty days.

Café and restaurant owners had to close their doors in the United States to prevent the spread of the corona virus.

The coronavirus in short

  • The coronavirus mainly spreads through sneezing and cough drops. The virus can be transmitted directly from person to person or (for a limited time) through surfaces such as door handles.
  • An infected person infects two to three others on average. Precautions are necessary to contain this.
  • The vast majority of patients have mild (flu-like) complaints.
  • Nearly all deaths involve the elderly or other frail, such as heart, lung or diabetes patients. If everyone complies with the measures, this reduces their risks.
  • Read here what precautions you should take.
