Star Paper Mill opens recycled cardboard plant in Abu Dhabi

Khalifa Economic Zones in Abu Dhabi – Kizad Group announced the signing of a 50-year lease agreement with Star Paper Mill, a company specializing in the production of paper products, to set up a new plant for the production of kraft jumbo rolls recycled, aiming to diversify its products and improve its manufacturing capabilities Biodegradable Packaging Paper Products in UAE.
Under this agreement, Star Paper Mill will invest approximately AED 200 million to expand its existing project in Kizad, in cooperation with RC Paper Machines. The new expansion covers an area of ​​59,000 square meters, and the products of the new facility will be used to make paper boxes. Eco-friendly and 100% biodegradable cardboard and paper bags are in great demand.
This step is part of the desire to enhance and support environmental initiatives in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi, especially after the announcement of the ban on the use of single-use plastic bags in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, starting from June 1, 2022, as this initiative is the first of its kind in the region and includes a gradual reduction of single-use plastic products consumed across Abu Dhabi, laying the foundation for a more sustainable future for the emirate.
The new facility has large capacities enabling it to produce more than 135,000 tons of recycled paper, in various shapes and varieties for packaging, storage and general purpose uses, as the company will need to handle around 10,000 standard containers per year, through Khalifa port to meet its raw material needs and transport its finished products.

With the announcement of this project, Star Paper Mill expands its presence in the economic cities and free zones of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, currently represented in a plant specializing in the production of sanitary towels, which covers an area of ​​27,000 square meters, with a production capacity of 36,000 tons.
