Stakhovsky begs Federer’s help

Sergiy Stakhovsky has asked for the moral support of the best tennis players on the planet in order to denounce the Russian invasion in Ukraine.

Sergiy Stakhovsky took up arms to defend his country against Vladimir Putin’s army. Usually residing in Slovakia, the Ukrainian returned to his native country at the risk of his life. The former player, who put away his racquet at the end of last season, contacted the members of the “Big Three” to support the Ukrainian cause.

“Novak Djokovic sent me a message of support and we even chatted a bit,” Stakhovsky said in comments reported by “Blick.ch“. On the other hand, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have not yet spoken about the terrible events that are currently taking place in Eastern Europe.

“I also tried to contact Federer and Nadal, but without success. I’m sorry they prefer to keep quiet, even though I understand them. This is not their war. We already have great personalities and I hope that the support will continue,” explained the man who beat the Swiss at Wimbledon in 2013.
