A stabbing incident took place at a shop on Stadhouderskade this evening around 8.40 pm. After the suspect committed shoplifting, he was arrested and taken aside by a security guard. “When the suspect wanted to escape, he pulled out a stabbing object and got into a fight with the security guard, who was then hit in the hand,” a police spokesperson said.
When the man was put in the holding room after committing shoplifting, he tried to escape. “He made a mess of it and started throwing furniture,” the police spokesman said. The security guard was not seriously injured, but had to be treated in hospital for his hand.
It is unclear what object was stabbed. The suspect was already arrested after the shoplifting and was arrested again after the stabbing incident and is now in the cell complex.
