St. Gallenkappel SG: Pedestrians hit by car – dead

It is shortly after 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday when a pedestrian († 61) crosses Rickenstrasse in St. Gallenkappel SG. At the same time a driver (57) is on the Rickenstrasse towards Gebertingen. It happens on the second half of the road: The car hits the 61-year-old, throws him through the air for several meters. The pedestrian is seriously injured. Despite immediate help from the emergency services, the victim does not survive the accident. The 61-year-old dies on the spot.

At the time of the accident there was light snow. To what extent this had an impact on the accident is clarified by specialists from the cantonal police in St. Gallen, according to a statement from the police. (JMH)
