The Bugatti Chiron it is no longer the fastest car in the world: the primacy, this time, belongs to the Tuatara. Indeed, the US passenger car has caught up with the mind blowing speed of 532.7 km / h. The new record was achieved on the roads of Nevada from Oliver Webb. Obviously, the driver who drove the SSC Tuatara towards this incredible record, he was enthusiastic about the goal achieved.
However, according to his words, the car – which presents a 5.9-liter twin-turbo V8 – could have reached an even greater speed, claiming that “For sure he could have done even better. In better conditions I know I could have gone faster, before hitting 532.7 km / h, the Tuatara gained the last 30 km / h in less than five seconds. The car was not yet at its limit. The crosswind did not allow us to reach the limit of the car ”.
Pilot Oliver Webb himself seems to “belittle” his incredible work on board the Tuatara. In fact he would have claimed that no special skills are needed to drive such a car but “If everything goes perfectly, most people could do it.” Likewise, no skill as a professional driver could be useful in avoiding a catastrophe when the car, at very high speed, runs into any kind of problem.
“Hiring a driver who can save a car when it goes badly at over 300mph is impossible”says the pilot. Therefore, according to Webb, to reach such a record a ‘excellent preparation which begins with 20 years of experience in racing: from karts to Formula Three, to Indy Lights, to driving a Koenigsegg at 250 mph. Regarding his state of mind, before driving the car, Webb states:
“You don’t want someone agitated in this job. The team that put it all together wondered if I wasn’t impressed with the car or in a bad mood during the race. But I was just trying to keep my feet on the ground. I enter an area before starting a run. I do deep breathing, meditation, nerve elimination, release of tension in the hands and arms. It’s a bit like going into a trance “.

“This relaxed state works not only for the driver, but for the car. We had about five miles of road, although I thought we could probably do it in two.
