‘Spy’ found dead at Volkswagen in burnt-out car …

In Germany, the fire department found the charred body of a man who used to work at Volkswagen. He was suspected of corporate espionage.

On Monday evening, the fire brigade found the charred body of a man in a burning car in a field in a small village near Helmstedt. The car belonged to a former Volkswagen manager suspected of corporate espionage. The identification of the body has not yet been completed, but local media already report that it would indeed be the ex-manager.

The public prosecutor’s office is not yet able to provide any information about the cause of death, but the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor of Braunschweig said that there is “no evidence of external interference.”

According to the public prosecutor’s office, there is a link with two other matters. Two weeks ago, it became known that an ex-Volkswagen manager would have spied for the Bosnian company Prevent. The man is said to have recorded many internal conversations. The other notable case is about that man’s house. That burned down in May. The police then assumed arson.

Both Volkswagen and Prevent do not want to comment for the time being. The public prosecutor’s office assumes in any case that there is a connection between the three matters. The conflict between Volkswagen and Prevent has been going on for years, even before the illegal recordings became known.
