An international football academy has been founded in Arnstadt. The school of the “Soccer Academy” should start in August, said managing director Torsten Traub. Up to 61 young people from all over the world and Germany can be accepted. Four years ago the idea of a soccer performance center was born at SV 09 Arnstadt. The founding took place in January of this year. The football school is integrated into SV 09 Arnstadt and yet it is independent. The boys, as managing director Torsten Traub calls them, are not only trained in football in Arnstadt. You can also complete an internationally recognized school leaving certificate. This works through hybrid lessons with the international peace school in Cologne.

Club hopes for a higher division
The 16 to 21 year olds are accommodated in a boarding school, which also offers training rooms. A former hotel in Arnstadt was rented for this purpose and is currently being converted. 27 double rooms and six single rooms are created. An in-house kitchen should be cooked in a way that is suitable for athletes, says Traub. The young people will train on and in the sports facilities in the city of Arnstadt. The football students all become members of SV 09 Arnstadt. You have a player pass and maybe bring the club to a higher division. Competitive experience, match practice and training – all of this takes place with and through the sports club.

Chance for late starters
Online lessons have long been normal in countries like Canada, said Traub. This is not yet so well established in this country. For athletes, however, this is the ideal way to learn. In terms of sport and personality, they want to pick everyone up where they are, explains Traub. This also offers former sports students or late starters the chance to fulfill their dream of professional football. Language courses and cultural offers should round off the program.
