Accusing Rogan of spreading misleading information about Covid-19, Young told Spotify this week: “They may have Rogan or Yang. Not both.”

Spotify regretted the request and hoped the artist would return to the platform soon.

On Monday, January 25, Yang publicly accused Spotify of “spreading false information about vaccines, potentially leading to the deaths of people who believe the misinformation they spread”.

In another statement posted on Yang’s website on Wednesday, he accused the music streaming giant of becoming “home to life-threatening misleading information about Covid.”

“Lies are being sold for money,” he added.

The artist also thanked his record brand Reprise Records, which is owned by Warner Brothers, for supporting his decision, saying that 60% of all his streaming music is played on Spotify.

According to media reports, Spotify paid $ 100 million (€ 89 million) in 2020 for the podcast rights to The Joe Rogan Experience. The program is Spotify’s most popular podcast and is reportedly downloaded nearly 200 million times a month.
