Nusantaratv.com – Spotify on Wednesday (13/3/2024) announced that it had launched music videos into its application in 11 countries.
Recipient countries update Spotify is England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Brazil, Colombia, Philippines, Kenya, including Indonesia.
“Often in my and many other people’s experiences, music videos play a key role in captivating you: taking you from a listener to a fan,” said Spotify Vice President and Head of Music Product, Charlie Hellman, as reported by GSM ArenaThursday (14/3/2024).
“Music videos are an important part of many artists’ toolkit, and it’s only natural that they’re in the same place as more than half a billion people choose to listen to music,” he continued.
This music video feature is still in beta. Apart from that, the video catalog is still limited, only for hit songs from global artists such as Ed Sheeran, Doja Cat and Ice Spice. Not only that, Spotify has also embedded a “local favorite songs” feature in it which includes artists such as Aluna and Asake.
In order to watch the music video, users must be in one of these 11 markets and be a Premium subscriber. The music videos will be available on the Spotify app on iOS and Android, as well as on the website web and TV apps.
If the user wants to switch from audio to video, just press the Switch to Video button if the song being listened to supports this feature. Once the user has done this, the music video will start playing from the beginning in the display Now Playing.
Users can at any time press the Switch to Audio button to do this. If the user is watching a video on a phone, changing it to landscape mode will make the video full screen.
Spotify promises to “continue to innovate and iterate” on the music video feature based on feedback from users and artists. The music video catalog will gradually expand, as will the availability of the functionality in a number of other countries.
