Spotakova launches at 63.69 m for recovery in the Czech Republic

Double Olympic javelin champion Barbora Spotakova won with a 63m69 throw at Kladno to resume meetings in the Czech Republic after two and a half months of suspension.

Spotakova, 38, was the headliner of the evening, christened by the Czech Athletics Federation “Back on track”, which brought together amateur and professional athletes at 173 stadiums across the country.

“I really liked the idea and it clearly worked,” said the world record holder (72m28).

“I think we have had decent performances, the health crisis has not disrupted our training too much and despite everything that has happened, we were pretty well prepared,” continued the triple world champion ( 2007, 2011, 2017).

“I was really looking forward to the competition because I trained for a very long time. I knew I could perform, but I really wanted to test myself,” said the 2008 and 2012 Olympic champion.

The coronavirus pandemic led to the postponement of the Tokyo Games for one year, from 2020 to 2021, a goal that is still in the sights of Spotakova, even if it will then be 39 years old.

“I have the feeling of being in good shape, I hope it will last at least another year,” she insisted.
