Sporting is finalizing the agreement with AZ Alkmaar to transfer Gonçalo Esteves to the Dutch club.
The 19-year-old right-back will move to the current 4th place in the Eredivisie on a loan valid until the end of the season.
Trained at FC Porto, Gonçalo Esteves was signed by the lions at the request of Ruben Amorim in 2021/22. That season, he was also used ten times in the main team, as an alternative to Pedro Porro.
Last season he was loaned to Estoril until the turn of the year, returning to Alvalade for the second half of the season, in which he played for the B team and the under-19s in the best UEFA Youth League in Sporting’s history, which, curiously, fell into the semi-finals against AZ Alkmaar, who would end up winning the competition.
At AZ, Gonçalo Esteves, who played just one game for Sporting’s B team in 2023/24, will be teammates with Alexandre Penetra and Tiago Dantas.
