Spike Lee and HBO team up to produce and direct a documentary on New York twenty years after the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Entitled NYC Epicenters 9/11 2021 1/2 (New York epicentres 11 09 2021 parts 1 and 2), Spike Lee’s documentary series (Do the Right Thing, click for 4K UHD test) will paint the portrait of many New Yorkers in their attempt to rebuild from the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 to the emergence of the coronavirus and its dramatic consequences on the city.
Archives and new interviews
For the purposes of his film, the director, who has his city pegged to the body and in particular his neighborhood of Brooklyn, intends to carry out more than 200 interviews and combine them with an impressive amount of archive footage. The documentary series will air on HBO and HBO Max at the end of the year.
Note that Spike Lee has already made several documentaries for HBO, including 4 Little Girls, When the Levees Broke and more recently David Byrne’s American Utopia. Source : The Hollywood Reporter
