DISCOVERY PROCESS
Perseverance is equipped with a special microphone to detect sound. Baptiste Chide said at this year’s 53rd Conference on Lunar and Planetary Sciences that the microphone also serves to measure the temperature on the surface of Mars in and around the rover.
