Virgil van Dijk gave Liverpool an excellent lead, but on the other side of the field the Orange captain made a horrible mistake and Patrick Bamford took advantage (2-2). There was one more goal before half time: Mohamed Salah hit the target and made sure that The Reds went into the dressing room with a head start.
After the break, however, PhD candidate Leeds turned out to be an incredibly tough team. Again, the men of trainer Marcelo Bielsa fought back into the match and that was thanks to Mateusz Klich, who played in the Eredivisie at PEC, FC Utrecht and FC Twente. He found the far corner after a good action and therefore Liverpool still had to accelerate in the final phase. Van Dijk seemed to make the win, but his goal was disallowed due to a foul.
The last minutes of the game were ultimately spent on The Reds. Two minutes before the end, Liverpool received another penalty and Mohamed Salah once again took advantage of that excellent opportunity. As a result, the team of trainer Jürgen Klopp escapes losing points and brave Leeds travels home empty-handed.
