Special teams will guard American monuments Abroad

In recent weeks, demonstrations of racism and police brutality have had images of famous people pulled from their pedestals. According to demonstrators, they were a symbol of oppression. US President Trump wants to prevent this from happening again around the celebration of independence.

The special teams must protect monuments that can be destroyed by protesters during the weekend of July 4, the Department of Homeland Security said. The department said nothing about the size or composition of the teams, how much the stake will cost and how they will intervene. It has also not been communicated which memorials are guarded and whether specific threats have already been made.

Trump previously announced that he would use violence against protesters who damage memorials. Following the death of a black man by a white agent in Minneapolis and subsequent demonstrations, states, cities, universities, and museums have already begun removing monuments and other memorials and names considered racist.
