Civil Guard and Government Delegation have presented the fifth edition of the Jacobean Safety Plan for the Camino de Santiago. In Navarra, there are ten agents on horseback who travel the provincial section supervising the safety of the road. In addition, pilgrims are recommended to carry the Alertcops application, available 24 hours a day, to alert either the National Police or the Civil Guard about any problem.
With respect to use of masks to prevent contagion, the Government delegate In Navarra, José Luis Arasti, explained that “on the Camino de Santiago all facilities and shelters have that security and we are calm. In addition, all stages are carried out outdoors so the risk of contagion is much lower, but well, it never hurts. Along the way you can go in a group, get together with pilgrims from many other places. ” The mask is not mandatory, but it is recommended if you are walking in the company of other people.
