Spanish Tennis Player Carlos Alcaraz: From Modest Apartment to Wimbledon Contender

Sharjah: Demiaa Faleh

The tennis player and the first seed, the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, lives in his parents’ apartment located above a restaurant that sells Turkish shawarma and pizza in the village of El Palmar near the city of Murcia in southern Spain, despite the millions he receives.

According to the report, Alcaraz’s fortune is estimated at 18 million pounds sterling thanks to huge sponsorship contracts, but he lives with his parents in a modest apartment priced at 170 thousand pounds sterling on days when he is not traveling to participate in a tournament.

Alcaraz is considered a candidate for the Wimbledon title, and if he wins the title, he will be the youngest first seed to win the tournament since German Boris Becker in the 1987 edition, but he is still in the eyes of the residents of his village, “Carlitos” or “Charlie.”

The upper floor of the two-story apartment is a forbidden area for outsiders, and there are his old rackets and clothes from the shepherds. He is currently preparing to move to live in two large villas on land he recently bought. His father, Carlos, dreamed of building a house in it, but his pocket did not help him, and it is located 15 minutes from The family’s current residence.

One of the two villas will be the place for Alcaraz to live with his parents and his two younger brothers, and the other villa will be for his belongings, and he may settle there later if he becomes associated with the most famous bachelor in Spain.

Alcaraz has a brother who also plays tennis, Jimmy, “11 years old.” Alcaraz admitted in an interview recently that he is not used to fame, and said: “I do not consider myself famous, and frankly I still feel awe when I meet a famous person.”
