Spain continues its downward trend in infections, but records its peak in second wave deaths | Society

The Ministry of Health has published this Tuesday the update of the figures for infections, hospitalizations and deaths from coronavirus in Spain. Regarding this Monday’s report, the total number of people infected by COVID-19 has increased by 13,159, of which 5,897 correspond to those registered in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of people infected in Spain by coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic in Spain is already 1,510,023.

In the last 7 days, 1,247 people have died in our country and from yesterday to today the total number of deaths has increased by 435 people, which represents a new record for deaths in the second wave. In total, there are already 41,688 people who have died from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in Spain.

With respect to the figures of last Tuesday, Spain continues its downward trend in terms of infections. 7 days ago the total number of infections increased by 17,395 cases, while today that figure has dropped to 13,159. For its part, the death toll is slightly higher than that registered 7 days ago.

What also continues to decline, although slightly this Tuesday, is the data of the cumulative incidence in the country, which currently stands at 465.86 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

At present there are 20,007 patients admitted for COVID-19 throughout Spain and 3,127 in an ICU, although in the last 24 hours there have been 2,022 admissions and 2,420 registrations. In addition, in the last week 4,357 people have been admitted to a hospital as a result of the infection caused by the contagion of the coronavirus and 370 in an ICU. The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus already stands at 16.13 percent and in ICUs at 32.31 percent.
