SpaceX will test a new prototype of the Starship rocket.

Another prototype of the American spacecraft Starship, which is being developed for manned flights to the Moon and Mars, could be launched on a suborbital test flight on May 4 or 5, the website reported. Next Spaceflight.

According to reports, Starship SN15 has been subjected to repeated static fire tests of its engines. As a result, no engine replacements were made. The spacecraft is installed on the launch pad on SpaceX’s Boca Chica test site in southeast Texas, ready for launch.

As part of the test, the SN15 prototype will have to reach an altitude of 10 km, followed by stopping the engines, aerodynamic braking, restarting the engines to return to vertical position and easy landing on the launch pad.

The previous four suborbital tests of the ship’s prototype had failed. They exploded on landing due to technical engine problems.
