SpaceX will send 4 tourists to space with the Crew Dragon ship

In collaboration with Space Adventures, Elon Musk’s company intends to give new impetus to space tourism with American technology.

SpaceX, the aerospace transport company founded by Elon Musk, has partnered with the pioneering space tourism company Space Adventures to orbit individuals on board the Crew Dragon, as announced on Tuesday by the company through a release.

The message states that the two companies have agreed so that private citizens are part of a free flight mission. “This will provide up to four people the opportunity to beat the world record of altitude for space flights of private citizens and see the planet Earth as nobody has done since the Gemini program, “explains the text.

Likewise, the statement details that this mission “will be the first orbital space tourism experience fully equipped with American technology”, since it will use the Crew Dragon spacecraft launched by the Space X Falcon 9 rocket, the same medium that this company will use to transport NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).

“Is historical mission it will forge a path to make spaceflight possible for all people who dream of it, “said Gwynne Shotwell, president and chief operating officer of Space X.” We are pleased to work with the Space Adventures team on that mission, “he added.

Between 2001 and 2009 Space Adventures took seven private clients to the IEE with the help of Russian Soyuz rockets on eight separate missions, in which they traveled more than 57 million kilometers in space. The president of this company, Eric Anderson, believes that his joint mission with Space X “will be a special experience and a unique opportunity in life,” because people who participate in it can reach twice the altitude of any of their previous missions with civilians or visitors to the IEE.
