SpaceX wants to transport astronauts | central plus

The US space company SpaceX plans to send astronauts to the International Space Station in May for the first time. A SpaceX rocket of the Falcon 9 type is supposed to launch the two US astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley. The US space agency Nasa and SpaceX said that the launch is currently scheduled for mid to late May. It would be the first time in nine years that astronauts were launched from the United States. Since the United States discontinued its space shuttle program in 2011, it has relied on Russia’s Soyuz rockets to carry astronauts to the ISS.
