A German ski mountaineer died after having fallen for about 400 meters while he was hiking on the Sella group between Val Gardena and Val Badia in South Tyrol. The body of the man was identified in the late evening yesterday by the men of the mountain rescue also thanks to the help of the helicopter of the Aiut Alpin Doloimites, enabled for night flight, being equipped with special visors.
The man, on vacation in South Tyrol, had left the Pisciadù refuge but on the way back he made a mistake in the gully by taking a cascade of ice that gave him no escape. The alarm was raised by the wife who was waiting for him in the hotel.
