“The president’s performance over the past 24 hours has been very worrying and the next 48 hours will be very important for his treatment. We are still not on the clear path to a full recovery,” a source told White House reporters traveling with the president.
Meanwhile, his doctors said on Saturday that Tramp was “doing very well”.
In the first official report on the state of the president after hospitalization, doctors expressed optimism.
“Currently, the team and I are very pleased with the president’s progress,” White House doctor Sean Conley said, adding that the president has not had a fever for the past 24 hours.
“We’ve seen his heart, his liver, his kidneys. It’s normal,” said Sean Doolle, another spokesman for Trump’s medical team.
Trump was hospitalized on Friday at Walter Reed Military Hospital near Washington and is being treated with the antiviral drug Remdesivir and an experimental drug cocktail.
The transfer of the president to the hospital, which the administration described as a precautionary measure, took place about 15 hours after Trump announced that he had tested positive for the new coronavirus.
According to a White House spokeswoman, the president “does not need extra oxygen”.
