Sound of Wake: Wakeboarder Hernler plays big in Salzburg

Carinthian Dominik Hernler recently explored Salzburg, the city of music, under the motto “Vacation at home”. The 28-year-old chose his familiar wakeboard as a means of transport and thus a very special perspective of the city of Mozart.

Via the Salzach, Hellbrunn Palace, the Leopoldskroner Weiher, the Mirabell Gardens and through the old town, Hernler’s path led to the Große Festspielhaus, where the pro-wakeboarder helped conductor Elisabeth Fuchs and the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra at the orchestral cymbals. The result is impressive images in historical scenery and a spectacular clip to the sound of Red Bull Symphonic, the collaboration between the DJ duo Camo & Krooked and the Austrian classical composer Christian Kolonovits.

While vacation abroad is still difficult, Carinthian Dominik Hernler, like so many Austrians these days, has decided to explore his beautiful home. The professional wakeboarder has chosen the world-famous city of Mozart as a travel destination. However, he wanted to give his sightseeing tour a special twist and so Hernler chose his familiar wakeboard as a means of transport and thus a very special perspective – because everyone can do normal.

His tour took the young Carinthian from the Salzach, where he had a wonderful view of the historic old town and the Hohensalzburg fortress from the “Amadeus Salzburg”, to Hellbrunn Palace and the venerable Leopoldskron Palace. After a short visit to the picturesque Mirabell Gardens, the winged sightseeing tour continued over the Alm Canal, across into the old town to the Great Festival Hall, where Hernler helped conductor Elisabeth Fuchs and the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra to the orchestra cymbals. A very special honor in the year of the 100th anniversary of the Salzburg Festival.

The result is impressive images in historical scenery and a spectacular clip on the sound of drum ‘n’ bass producers Camo & Krooked and the composer Christian Kolonovits. With the songs from Red Bull Symphonic, the unique mix of classic and modern is also reflected in the music.

Dominik Hernler explains his latest adventure: “The idea behind” Sound of Wake “was to combine storytelling with wakeboarding, classical music and the many historical places in Salzburg. It was an absolute challenge for me and the entire team. But it all really paid off, the result was just awesome. ”

Wakeboarding in places that are not designed for this, in combination with the sophisticated tricks, presented Dominik Hernler with a very special challenge. Almost a year of intensive planning and 6 days of filming for “Sound of Wake” was necessary.
