Soumaila Cissé contacted his family by letter

Soumaïla Cissé, the leader of the Malian opposition in the hands of kidnappers since March 25, was able to get in touch with his family via letters, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“The ICRC has given a member of Mr. Soumaïla Cissé’s family letters from the latter. After long months without contact, being able to receive news from a loved one is of invaluable comfort to the family” , reveals an ICRC statement.

The announcement of these contacts between the Malian opposition leader and his family, which has remained without news for months, comes four days after the resignation of his rival, President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, after his arrest by the military in power in Mali since Tuesday.
