Souillac: turnover up for the stadium Gaec

For almost twenty years they have been offering vegetables from their own production in their premises at Gaec du stade. Christophe Le Henanff and his wife Nathalie, well known in the Souillagais basin, tell their story on Wednesday April 28.

Tell us a bit about your beginnings?

In 2003, we started by creating our vegetable production in Peyrillac (near Souillac) and we had the opportunity to buy 7 hectares in Souillac, including the point of sale, located in front of the rugby field (where I played for many years) to do direct selling. Nathalie, my wife, got into horticulture at that time.

What motivated your desire to think bigger?

To follow the market, we have to grow from year to year and, in relation to our customers, to offer a wide choice of seasonal vegetables.

Besides vegetables, what do you offer your customers?

We have also been producing asparagus for ten years and Nathalie takes care of the chrysanthemums we produce, as well as the vegetable and flower plants that we grow and offer at our point of sale in the stadium.

How are you adapting to this health crisis?

Our strength is to offer products from our region and we are going through this crisis with confidence since it is important to know that customers are coming back to these local products with more and more young people and therefore our turnover is declining. feels since on the rise since the first confinement. In addition, we go to the Souillac market every Friday and we also work with supermarkets, communities and producers’ shops that we supply with fresh vegetables as well as local restaurants. We also employ five seasonal workers, with contracts of five to six months, hoping very soon to transform one into a permanent contract.
