Sony unveils the design of the Playstation 5 and its first games

Discover the design of the Playstation 5 and its first games – 20 minutes

Sony responds at Microsoft. The Japanese manufacturer has unveiled the design of the Playstation 5, Thursday… but not its price or its launch date. We discovered a black and white console with a very cleavage design, which will be available at the end of 2020 in two versions, with and without disc player. The “Digital Edition” model will be reserved for digital games to download.

For the rest, we already knew the new DualSense wireless controller. On the accessories side, Sony will offer a noise reduction headset supporting 3D audio, a dual HD camera and a mini remote control with integrated microphone inspired by Apple TV for easier navigation when watching TV.

25 games revealed

As with the Xbox series X, we have to face the facts: the graphical gap between the intermediate generation (PS4 Pro) and the PS5 is more an evolution than a revolution. Horizon II: Forbidden West is probably the only game shown on Thursday that can proudly claim the label of next gen, with decorations to die for.

Unsurprisingly, Sony is betting on its blockbusters, with Gran Turismo 7 and Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. Ratchet and Clank are back in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Sackboy thinks he’s Mario in his Big Adventure. Masochists will hurt themselves with the remake of the classic Demon’s Souls.

As for third-party publishers, Capcom is inspired by M. Night Shyamalan with a Resident Evil Village disturbing at will. The Frenchies of Arkane Lyon (Dishonored) have fun with Deathloop, an explosive action game featuring two rival assassins. And Square Enix doesn’t seem very advanced with its Project Athia. Add nostalgia forOddworld Soulstorm, the animated adventure Goodbye Volcano High reminding Life is Strange and then the cute Annapurna Interactive cat in Stray, and we’re starting to see a respectable line-up. But let’s not dream, more than half of these titles will not be released before 2021 or 2022.
