Sonic Frontiers it’s the next game Sonic and promises to represent the next step in the SEGA mascot saga, so expectations are a little higher than usual.

A IGN had exclusive rights to the initial coverage of the game with its monthly heading IGN Firstwhich began by lifting the veil on the gameplay and visuals of the new title, in a seven-minute video that shows a little bit of what players can expect.

Sonic Frontiers presents itself as an open world game, where the player can freely choose his next objective, explore ruins, climb towers, solve environmental puzzles and, of course, collect rings.

Throughout the video, we can see Sonic interacting with the environment at different points of interest, but unfortunately, first impressions are anything but impressive. Despite the novelty of the “open world” for the saga, and without forgetting that it is still under development, the animations of the little hedgehog and the general presentation of the game leave a lot to be desired, with expansive environments, but not very interesting and decorated with elements that break with the immersion and nature of the game, as well as the rigid and floating animations of Sonic, which refer to the “horrors” of a Sonic 2006.

Unfortunately, this is not where we have seen the combat yet, which had been revealed a little in the teaser days before, but you can find out more about the game with IGN’s coverage during the month of June.

Sonic Frontiers does not yet have a release date.
