West Ham fell 2-1 to Manchester United, and captain Mark Noble missed an injury time penalty that could have secured a point for the Hammers.
The east side of London had a perfect opportunity to level the game in the dying moments when Luke Shaw gave away a penalty for handball. West Ham captain Noble was then presented to take the penalty.
However, despite having an impeccable record from the penalty spot, Noble saw his poor shot stopped by David De Gea, a goalkeeper who has been criticized for his poor ability to save points in recent months.
In fact, it was a punching moment for Noble, who could easily have been the hero of his childhood club had his penalty hit the back of the net.

Yet such drama is what the Premier League is made for, and Noble’s failure could be key for both West Ham and United this season. The result placed the Manchester giants in the top three of the Premier League table.
The event will mock Noble, who prior to today had an astonishingly good record from the penalty spot. With the midfielder coming off the bench to take the shot, it will also be some time before the captain overcomes the foul.

However, on social media, West Ham was there to send its support to Noble, and the club posted a message on its official Twitter account for the veteran captain following his failure against De Gea.
Here’s what some Twitter fans had to say about West Ham’s message to the captain …

It’s one of them that if Nobes didn’t show up and Rice took it and failed, we’d all be saying why they didn’t bring Noble. It’s hard to accept, but we look much better as a team and this is just a small problem ⚒️⚒️

No one will suffer more than @ Noble16Mark. It would have meant everything to him to bury that. My captain ❤️⚒⚒⚒

One of those things, if he scores it’s a cool move, if it wasn’t the worst thing you could have done, the bet didn’t pay off. We still did well considering we didn’t have a forward and we played a game on Thursday. In the next.

I really hope Noble was the one who made the suggestion and they didn’t just force him to take the penalty. Nobody slanders Mark, the man has been in the club for longer than many of us have been living hahaha.
