A page in the history of Italian football may turn in the coming weeks. This Wednesday, the Italian justice declared the Calcio Catania bankrupt. The club from Catania, Sicily, has accumulated more than 56 million euros in debt, and has been found to be insolvent, says the Italian daily The Gazzetta dello Sport .
30 days to find a buyer
The Italian leaders had however hoped to convince the justice by presenting the plan of recovery of a Roman investor, which was nevertheless considered insufficient. Now under financial supervision, the leaders of the Sicilian club have 30 days to find a buyer, otherwise the club would be permanently removed from Italian competitions and would disappear.

Catania, last in Serie A in 2013-2014, is currently thirteenth in its Serie C group. The Sicilian club, had been relegated and sanctioned by nine points in 2015, after its president admitted the involvement of the club in five matches suspected of match-ups.
