Soccer. Technical director of Chartres, the former Brestois Maurice Bouquet has “found his vocation”

Maurice Bouquet was back in Brittany this weekend. The former Brest Armorique midfielder (1985-1991) is now technical director of C’Chartres FC, beaten by PlabennecSaturday, in National 2 (3-0). “I’m happy to be back in Brittany, confides Maurice Bouquet, even if it’s been a while since I’ve been back. I am now in Chartres where my mission and objective is to structure this club. I’m starting my third season at Chartres and it’s going very well. We have a lot of ambition, especially in the medium to long term, to bring the team to National and then to Ligue 2.”

The mayonnaise within the club took very quickly: Maurice Bouquet is surrounded by former footballers of his generation. “I work in collaboration with Jean Pierre (Papin) who trains the first team and the president Gérard Soler who also comes from the middle, explains the former midfielder. We don’t need to talk to each other a lot to understand each other and that makes things easier, even if we communicate a lot of course. »

“Finding a sideline is not in my plans”

C’Chartres is now in second place in its National 2 pool. The club is undoubtedly already reaping the rewards of the policy it has been pursuing for several years. “We are structuring the club, insists Maurice Bouquet. The young teams all play regionally, we also have a successful women’s section. The B team plays in N3 while the C evolves in Regional 1. It is mainly composed of young people from the training”.

After his time at Brest Armorique, Maurice Bouquet moved to Saint Etienne then Martigues before training Le Puy en Velay, in particular. But it was only natural that he then turned to a career as technical director: “I think I have found my vocation, finding a sideline is not in my plans today”.
