LECCE, Italy – A late goal from half-time substitute Nicolò Fagioli gave Juventus a 1-0 win at Lecce on Saturday, while Massimiliano Allegri’s side clinched their third consecutive Serie A victory.
Juve moved up two places to sixth with 22 points, one ahead of Udinese, who will go to Cremonese on Sunday, and Inter before hosting Sampdoria later on Saturday.
After a lackluster first half with no threat to either goal, Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot was in danger of nodding to Filip Kostic’s corner just before half-time, but Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone dived deep to deny it.
Three minutes into the second half, Falcone heads defender Federico Gatti off a Juan Cuadrado free-kick.
Massimiliano Allegri’s Juve could have taken the lead in the 53rd minute, but a point-blank heel strike by striker Arkadiusz Milik was saved by a dive from Falcone.
The Polish striker had another chance in the 64th minute when he struck from the edge of the area, but was again rejected by the fit of the Lecce goalkeeper.
