Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – SC Freiburg relies on substitute goalkeeper Benjamin Uphoff in the DFB Cup game at VfB Stuttgart on Wednesday evening (8.45 p.m.). “Uppi will play because he has trained well and is extremely hard-working,” said coach Christian Streich on Tuesday. “I am convinced that he will make a good game.”

In the first round game at Waldhof Mannheim, Uphoff was already in the starting line-up at short notice after goalkeeper Mark Flekken was injured while warming up. After that, the 27-year-old returned to the bank because Florian Müller had been signed up by FSV Mainz. Müller is now given a break at VfB.

In addition to Müller, Streich will probably give several regular players a break. “But we really want to go further, and therefore not change too much,” added the SC coach.
