No new cases of Covid-19 have been detected in Riga East Secondary School, where a student was previously infected with Covid-19.
At the same time, it is still not clear how the student became infected with Covid-19. The SPKC noted that several versions have been put forward as to how this might have happened.
Riga East Secondary School was the first educational institution where Covid-19 was diagnosed this autumn. On Monday, information appeared in the public space that a Covid-19 patient had been discovered in another Latvian school – Daugavpils Secondary School No. 16.
In the case of Riga East Secondary School, as soon as a message was received from the SPKC about the infection of one student with Covid-19, his whole class and four teachers who worked with the class that day went to home quarantine, Ilze Sondore-Drukaļska, the school’s deputy director, told LETA.
She explained that for the class affected by Covid-19, the studies at Riga East Secondary School took place in one room and there was no intersection of student flows.
The deputy principal pointed out that the school has various security measures in place, such as teaching in the same classroom so that student flows do not cross, and teachers go to the students instead of vice versa.
It has already been reported that in Latvia, three models have been developed for the learning process in the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, from which schools can choose the most appropriate one.
