At the world championship in early March, he was 15th and thus the second-best German. Yesterday he started at the World Cup. Benedikt Bockstaller, who comes from Maulburg and lives in Buchenbach, is one of the elite halfpipe snowboarders. On Friday (from 4 p.m.) he will report live from Aspen, Colorado, in the BZ Talk, talks about his impressions from the USA, how he once got into snowboarding as a boy on Feldberg and what it feels like to have a board Turns 900 degrees or does a Double Cork 1080. In an interview with BZ sports editor Uwe Rogowski, Bockstaller talks about his greatest successes, his goal of the Olympics and why skateboarding is a good basis for snowboarders. What qualifications should a good snowboarder have? How do you deal with rushes? And has he already met a celebrity in the luxury ski resort of Aspen?
Bockstaller is 21 years old, he used to play football in Lrrach and stuck with the trend sport snowboard, for which he obviously has a great talent. According to the national coach, participating in the Olympic Games is a realistic plan. “If nothing goes wrong, it will work,” says Michael Dammert, who comes from Freiburg.
